Kerry and Mark, a Central Scotland couple with two young children, wanted a garden that worked for their family. Their 400-square-meter backyard sloped heavily away from the house and to one side, making it unusable for play or entertaining. Their goals were clear: create a safe, flat space for the kids and a large patio for hosting friends, all while maintaining a high-end aesthetic.



Challenges

The steep, uneven terrain posed a significant hurdle. Leveling the garden while preserving as much fence height as possible required careful planning. Moving 100 tonnes of muck out and 60 tonnes of material in was a logistical feat, complicated by unstable ground that challenged our dumper’s stability. The sheer scale—over 400 square meters—demanded precision to ensure a durable, visually stunning result.

  • Strategic Levelling: We used CAD designs to map a levelled layout, maximising fence height while creating a safe, usable space. 
  • Premium Materials: Installed 100 square meters of ivory cream porcelain slabs with kandla grey porcelain edging, adding mitred cuts for a refined step finish. The edging was so striking, we extended it to both steps for a cohesive, high-end look. 
  • Efficient Execution: Despite the four-week timeline (due to the project’s size), we maintained daily cleanups and twice-daily check-ins to keep Kerry and Mark informed and stress-free.
