Parking Made Simple: A Driveway Upgrade for a Growing Family
Creating Solutions for Modern Living
Introduction
When our client moved into this house years ago, his children were young. Now in their early 20s and driving, parking had become a headache—especially with neighbours facing the same street-parking crunch. He wanted to add two dedicated parking spaces and refresh the driveway. This case study covers how we delivered a sleek, functional solution in just five days, making life easier for a busy household.
Challenges
The original driveway was too narrow to accommodate two cars while allowing easy access for prams and kids. Loading children into car seats and manoeuvring strollers around the vehicles was a daily struggle. The family needed more room without sacrificing aesthetics. A key challenge was maintaining a level surface, as the neighbouring driveway sat significantly lower, complicating the design and drainage.
Objectives
- Add two functional parking spaces to the driveway.
- Redesign the existing driveway for a cohesive, updated look.
- Match the design to the house’s aesthetic.
- Complete the job quickly and efficiently.
Our Approach
We expanded the driveway to 80 square meters to accommodate two full parking spaces alongside the existing layout. For materials, we chose heather regular blocks for the main surface, paired with a charcoal tegular border—colours that complemented the house’s exterior perfectly. The straightforward design kept things simple: a clean, rectangular expansion with a subtle border to tie it together, ensuring durability and easy access for multiple vehicles.
Implementation
This job was straightforward, wrapped up in five days. We started by clearing and levelling the 80-square-meter area, then laid a solid base to support daily use. The heather regular blocks were installed across the main driveway, with charcoal tegular blocks framing the edges for contrast and definition. The team worked fast, minimising disruption, and left behind a polished, ready-to-use space.

Results
The revamped driveway now boasts two spacious parking spots, eliminating the family’s reliance on crowded street parking. At 80 square meters, it’s practical and stylish, with the heather and charcoal blocks blending seamlessly with the house. Completed in just five days, it’s a low-stress win that’s already handling the daily grind of multiple cars with ease.
